Ok, I'm at HyVee in the Self-Check out lane and as I'm at the screen a Middle Schooler comes up to wait in line. He politely says, "hi" and waits his turn, talking to his friend.
As my stuff progresses down the belt and I pay and am bagging; he is VERY politely waiting for me to finish before he checks out. I am so programmed that I wanted to walk over and hand him a coin (our current reward system for behavior) and tell him thank you for using MTS. (Manners, Thinking and Learning, and Safety)
When I caught myself thinking this so automatically I chuckled and thought oh yes...it is time to get out. Acknowledging good behavior when I see it is becoming way too woven into my lifestyle!
