Names

reveal a lot.

I'm not clairvoyant. When I hear a person's name I don't immediately conjure up a prediction, but after all those years of teaching I do notice trends.

And that's what names tell me. Decades.

In the 70s there were the Jennys and Michelles and Joshs and Matthews.

In the 80s and 90s the Brittanys and the Katelyns. I can't recall boys' names. It seems that girls' names change more frequently than boys.

Well, we got a new neighbor and her name is Kaitlyn.

Yup, she's young. Maybe 25 or 26.

She's my first really young neighbor. All the rest of us are old folk, Diane, Ed, Dan, Bonnie, Bob, Terry, Marty, you get the picture.

I feel sorry for her and her finance, but it is nice to have some youth around.
