Adjustment

We knew and everyone told us that in Colorado the snow falls and melts away.

We are finding this to be so true, but still can't comprehend its entirety.

Recently it snowed on a night we were driving home. It was coming down rather steadily, but seeming more like a rain/snow shower. The pavement was wet, until you got to a bridge or overpass and then it was slippery.

When we awoke the next morning there was about two inches on the ground, but by nine in the morning the streets were wet. By eleven when we were out and about the parking lots were slushy, people were wearing vests and light jackets.

The best I could describe it is when we would get a snow in late March in Iowa. We knew it was short lived and we could feel spring just around the corner.

It is such an adjustment. When we see snow we think it is here to stay and it will be cold and unbearable.

Not so in this state. I guess the people who live here know what they are talking about.
