It was so much fun.
I had read The Ladies of the Brown by Debra Faulkner and she was our guide.
After our tour we had tea.
So divine.
This is a view from an upper floor of the area where we had tea.
There are about ten floors to the hotel. The eighth and ninth floor house suites which are used for dignitaries or celebrities. It can of course be rented by anyone on a nightly basis. A mere $2259....In 1997 the G Summit was held here. Our guide told us she saw Boris Yeltsin and Bill Clinton looking down below, listening to the piano. Another time she heard a flurry on the piano and looked to see Billy Joel playing with the local pianist. But my favorite was seeing the room #840, where the Beatles stayed in 1964.
This is the sitting room of the Eisenhower room (one that rents so cheaply) That is Mamie's chaise. She was from Denver so the Eisenhowers frequented the Brown.
This mural is really four sheets of wall paper. It is only in place at the White House and the Louvre and here!
Our guide also took us to a room they rent out for weddings and receptions and said frequently people get orbs in their photos. They believe it is the ghost of one of the ticket takers from over 50 years ago. One lady took some photos just to see.
The tea was lovely. They even had gluten free options. I want to go back in November when they have Champagne Cascade. It is a free event. They stack 6000 champagne glasses in a pyramid, then like Napoleon they chop off the top of the bottle with a sword and allow the champagne to cascade down. Now doesn't that sound like a sight to see?
