Getting Ready for Kindergarten

My older two granddaughters are getting ready for Kindergarten.

Miss California starts August 15th. On August 9 or 10 she will go for an assessment. It is not a test but more of a get to know the teacher time where the teacher will listen to her language, determine her personality (quiet, shy, assertive, verbal, etc) and get an overall view of who she is as a person and then the teachers will divide the personalities among the four classrooms.

I rather like the idea, knowing the teachers' aim is to make sure not one class is weighed heavily with any one 'type'. It will be interesting to see how well this works.

Miss Colorado starts a week later. August 21. She doesn't have an assessment. There will just be an assignment to a classroom. However in her daycare "camp" she is working on some prep for her upcoming entrance into the world of education. Here is her writing of the alphabet. So proud.

  1. They look ready! You will LOVE having them in school! It is so much fun to talk to them about what they are doing. You'll find it is easier to engage them in conversation about school because you "get it" having taught. Watching them learn is amazing!
