You know how you go someplace and you meet someone who knows someone you know, etcetera, etcetera. Kevin Bacon's Six Degrees of Separation.
So here's another story and the basis of it is really sad, but the uncanniness of it all will blow your mind.
The weekend before Josh and Olivia's wedding Olivia's cousin, Katie, dies quite tragically. She was celebrating a friend's 21st birthday and at this time they think she died of alcohol poisoning. Nothing could be more sorrowful than to have a young, 20 year old die. Devastation abounds.
When Olivia and Josh are here for the garage sale, Marianne stops by. We are all chatting and somehow Marianne brings up that her cousin's granddaughter died recently of alcohol poisoning.
Olivia remarks that her cousin did also.
And you know where I am going with this...same girl.
Olivia's uncle, her dad's brother, is the father of Katie. He is a Woodard.
Marianne's cousin is Ted. His daughter is Carrie. She is married to Olivia's uncle.
How wild is that, that my daughter in law and my friend have family, by marriage, in common?
Olivia and her sister, Angie, were flower girls at their uncle's wedding and Marianne's aunt remembers them. (Cute as a button then and now!)
I'm not really good at geometry, never did like it, but I don't wonder if this is less than Six Degrees.
