I've not read any Margaret Atwood novels. Somehow they just didn't appeal to me, maybe I thought they would be too dark. But when I watched the Emmys this year Handmaid's Tale won so many awards.
Yet I still did not read the book.
However one night recently we sat down and binged Alia Grace on Netflix.
It was really good. Well written, well acted and not too scary.
It was a very timely reminder about the plight of women. Grace was a servant in a household and at the mercy of her master. She had no life of her own. It was remarkable to watch and see how far women have come, yet with all the sexual harassment in the news, there is a long way to go.
It is worth the time to watch.
