SOLD!

My sister in law passed away last November and in March we put her house, that she owned with her mother, on the market. It's a ranch style home and in a great neighborhood and we thought it would sell fast. Like the first week.

It did not.

We got lots of feedback that it needed updating, which it did, but we didn't want to do the updating, we wanted to accommodate through pricing for updates.

Our realtor disagreed and convinced my husband that we needed to put in new stainless steel appliances (there were newer white ones, but no they had to be stainless) and replace the knobs and pulls on the cabinets and door handles on all doors.

Yikes. That seemed like a lot of work and really, it would help?

Yes. Trust me. She said.

So on Good Friday we drove to my sister in law's house, three hours away. Stopped at the house, counted the doors and pulls and noted the fixtures and drove to Lowe's.

After an hour and two carts later in Lowe's we checked out, dropped the stuff off at the house and went to dinner before attempting our "rehab".

My husband checked his phone during drinks and discovered the realtor had texted, "Call me. I have an offer."

He stepped outside and took the call and came back in smiling.

SOLD!

So we went to sign papers and sheepishly returned to Lowe's to deliver our two carts of items.

They were great about it.

What timing!

I would have been so frustrated had we started to makes all the changes and then find out we got an offer. What do you do, finish? Take it back to what it was? Leave it half done?

At any rate we did not have to make that decision, but we can celebrate.

Yea, the house is SOLD!
